Evaporative Condenser for Cold Storage | Industrial Refrigeration

Product Introduction

The Evaporative Condenser for Cold Storage is a high-efficiency heat rejection solution designed for commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. It combines the operating principles of an air-cooled condenser and a cooling tower in one integrated unit, using both air and water evaporation to remove heat from the refrigerant.

During operation, high-temperature refrigerant vapor flows through the condenser coil while circulating water is sprayed over the coil surface. At the same time, fans move ambient air through the unit. A portion of the water evaporates and absorbs heat, helping the refrigerant condense efficiently.

Evaporative condensers are widely used in large cold storage warehouses, food processing plants, blast freezer systems, cold chain logistics centers, meat and seafood facilities, dairy plants, and industrial refrigeration projects. They are particularly suitable for applications requiring high heat rejection capacity, compact installation, and stable condensing performance.

Cooling capacity, coil material, fan configuration, water circulation system, refrigerant type, power supply, and control system can be customized according to project requirements.

Key Product Features

High Heat Rejection Efficiency

Evaporative cooling enhances heat transfer by combining sensible and latent heat exchange. This can help maintain lower condensing temperatures compared with conventional dry air cooling under suitable ambient conditions.

Compact Integrated Structure

The condenser coil, spray water system, fan section, water basin, and heat rejection components are integrated into one unit, reducing the space required for separate cooling towers and condensers.

Suitable for Large Refrigeration Systems

Evaporative condensers are commonly used with screw compressor racks, reciprocating compressor systems, and centralized industrial refrigeration plants requiring high heat rejection capacity.

Reduced Condensing Pressure

A properly designed evaporative condenser can help lower refrigeration system condensing pressure, which may improve compressor operating efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

Automatic Water Circulation

The unit is equipped with a circulating water system that continuously sprays water over the heat exchange coil. Water level control and make-up water devices can be integrated for automatic operation.

Reliable Industrial Construction

Heavy-duty casing, corrosion-resistant components, efficient fans, and durable heat exchanger coils help provide reliable performance under long-term outdoor operation.

Main Applications

Evaporative condensers are widely used in:

  • Large cold storage warehouses
  • Blast freezing systems
  • Frozen food distribution centers
  • Meat processing plants
  • Poultry processing facilities
  • Seafood cold storage
  • Dairy production plants
  • Beverage factories
  • Cold chain logistics centers
  • Central refrigeration plants
  • Industrial process cooling

Advantages of Evaporative Condensers

Efficient Refrigeration Performance

Evaporative cooling can provide effective heat rejection even when ambient dry-bulb temperatures are high, especially when local wet-bulb conditions are favorable.

Lower Equipment Footprint

Because the condenser and cooling tower functions are integrated, the overall system can occupy less space than a separate water-cooled condenser and cooling tower arrangement.

Energy-Saving Potential

Lower condensing temperatures can reduce compressor discharge pressure and improve system efficiency when the equipment is correctly selected and maintained.

Suitable for Continuous Operation

Evaporative condensers are well suited for large industrial refrigeration systems requiring long operating hours and stable heat rejection.

Flexible System Integration

The equipment can be integrated with centralized compressor racks, PLC controls, water treatment systems, pumps, and remote monitoring systems.

Water Treatment and Maintenance

Water quality management is important for evaporative condenser performance. Scale, corrosion, biological growth, and suspended impurities can affect heat transfer and equipment reliability.

A complete system may include:

  • Water treatment equipment
  • Automatic blowdown system
  • Make-up water control
  • Circulating water pumps
  • Water filtration
  • Anti-scale treatment
  • Periodic cleaning and inspection

Regular maintenance of coils, spray nozzles, fans, pumps, and water basins helps maintain efficient heat exchange and long-term reliability.
