Uzbekistan Food Processing Cold Storage Project | Tashkent Blast Freezer
Case Details
The Uzbekistan Food Processing Cold Storage Project is an industrial refrigeration project located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, mainly designed for the processing, blast freezing, and frozen storage of dairy products and other food products.
The project was developed in two stages to support the customer’s growing food production and refrigerated storage requirements. Phase I was completed in 2019, covering approximately 1,000 m², while Phase II was completed in 2022, adding another 2,000 m² of cold storage space.
The entire project has a combined area of approximately 3,000 m² and incorporates both -35°C blast freezing rooms and -18°C frozen product storage rooms. To provide reliable refrigeration capacity under different operating conditions, the system uses parallel screw compressor units and reciprocating compressors.
This combination provides stable low-temperature performance, flexible refrigeration capacity, and efficient operation for food processing and industrial cold storage applications.

| Main Application | Dairy Processing, Blast Freezing & Frozen Storage |
| Construction Period | Phase I: 2019 / Phase II: 2022 |
| Phase I Area | Approx. 1,000 m² |
| Phase II Area | Approx. 2,000 m² |
| Total Project Area | Approx. 3,000 m² |
| Blast Freezing Temperature | -35°C |
| Frozen Storage Temperature | -18°C |
| Compressor Configuration | Parallel Screw Units + Reciprocating Compressors |
| Project Type | Industrial Food Processing Cold Storage |
Phase I – 1,000 m² Cold Storage Facility
The first phase was constructed in 2019 with a total area of approximately 1,000 m².
It includes:
- 4 blast freezing rooms operating at -35°C
- 2 frozen product storage rooms operating at -18°C
The blast freezing rooms are designed for rapid temperature reduction after food processing. Rapid freezing helps improve production efficiency and prepares products for subsequent long-term frozen storage.
After the freezing process is completed, products can be transferred to the -18°C cold rooms for stable refrigerated warehousing and distribution.
Phase II – 2,000 m² Expansion
To meet increasing production and storage demand, the project was expanded in 2022 with an additional 2,000 m² of refrigerated space.
Phase II includes:
- 4 additional -35°C blast freezing rooms
- 5 additional -18°C frozen storage rooms
After completion of the second phase, the complete cold storage facility consists of 8 blast freezing rooms and 7 frozen storage rooms, significantly increasing the customer’s food freezing and warehousing capacity.
Dual-Temperature Refrigeration Design
The project separates rapid freezing and long-term frozen storage into independent temperature zones.
| Functional Area | Design Temperature | Main Function |
|---|---|---|
| Blast Freezing Room | -35°C | Rapid freezing of processed products |
| Frozen Storage Room | -18°C | Long-term frozen product storage |
This configuration enables each refrigeration zone to operate according to its specific cooling load and production requirements.
The -35°C rooms handle the higher refrigeration load required during blast freezing, while the -18°C storage rooms maintain stable temperatures for finished frozen products.
Parallel Screw and Reciprocating Refrigeration Systems
Both construction phases use a combination of parallel screw compressor systems and reciprocating refrigeration compressors.
Parallel screw refrigeration units are well suited to industrial food processing projects with changing refrigeration loads. Multiple compressors can be controlled according to actual cooling demand, providing flexible capacity regulation and reliable continuous operation.
The combined refrigeration configuration offers several advantages:
- Stable low-temperature operation
- Flexible refrigeration capacity
- Efficient partial-load performance
- Reliable industrial operation
- Better system redundancy
- Adaptability to different refrigeration zones
This makes the refrigeration system suitable for both intensive blast freezing and continuous frozen product storage.
Project Results
The Uzbekistan Food Processing Cold Storage Project in Tashkent demonstrates a practical phased development solution for industrial food refrigeration.
Starting with a 1,000 m² facility in 2019 and expanding by another 2,000 m² in 2022, the project created a complete 3,000 m² refrigeration facility integrating food processing support, blast freezing, and frozen storage.
With 8 blast freezers at -35°C, 7 frozen storage rooms at -18°C, and a refrigeration system combining parallel screw compressor units with reciprocating compressors, the facility provides reliable refrigeration support for large-scale dairy and food production.
The project provides a valuable reference for dairy factories, food processing plants, blast freezer facilities, frozen food warehouses, and industrial cold storage projects in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
