Dubai 5,000-Ton Agricultural Produce Cold Chain EPC Project
Case Details
Project Name: Dubai 5,000-Ton Agricultural Produce Cold Chain EPC Project
Project Location: Dubai, UAE
Industry: Agricultural produce trading and cold chain warehousing
Cold Storage Purpose: Cold storage, preservation, and transit storage of agricultural produce
Project Capacity: Approximately 5,000 tons
Scope of Work: Architectural design, steel structure engineering, cold storage envelope construction, refrigeration system engineering, and project handover
Project Background
The client is a local Dubai-based enterprise specializing in the long-term trade of agricultural produce, with operations covering procurement, warehousing, and sales.
Dubai experiences high temperatures during the summer, making agricultural produce vulnerable to heat-related degradation during storage and distribution. To enhance storage capacity and mitigate the impact of high temperatures on product quality, the client planned the construction of a cold chain warehousing facility with a capacity of approximately 5,000 tons.
Following project discussions and a comparison of proposals, the client selected HAOCOOL to provide EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services for the cold storage facility.
Project Solution
Upon project initiation, the HAOCOOL engineering team developed a comprehensive plan that took into account Dubai's local climate, operational requirements, the specific storage characteristics of the agricultural produce, and on-site construction conditions.
During the design phase, engineers prioritized factors such as the region's high summer temperatures, the need for long-term reliable operation, structural integrity, thermal insulation performance, and refrigeration system stability. They provided the client with a detailed project proposal, engineering drawings, and recommendations for equipment configuration.
HAOCOOL was responsible for the specialized engineering aspects of the project, including architectural design, steel structures, the cold storage envelope system, and the refrigeration system. Leveraging China's cold storage equipment and engineering supply chain, the company provided an integrated service solution covering construction, insulation, refrigeration equipment, and project implementation. Project Implementation
The overall construction period for the project was approximately nine months, spanning from preliminary design, civil works, and steel structure installation to cold storage construction, refrigeration equipment installation, system commissioning, and final handover.
Throughout the implementation phase, the HAOCOOL engineering team successfully navigated challenges such as extreme heat, cross-border supply chain coordination, and local environmental conditions. They managed on-site construction and project operations, coordinating equipment supply, schedules, and system commissioning to ensure every stage was completed according to plan.
Project Performance
The 5,000-ton agricultural cold chain project in Dubai has now been completed and handed over for operation.
Even with local summer outdoor temperatures exceeding 50°C, the refrigeration system has maintained stable operation. Internal cooling, temperature control, and thermal insulation performance all met the design specifications, providing the necessary storage conditions for the client's agricultural produce and cold chain operations.
The completion of this project has further enriched HAOCOOL’s experience in constructing large-scale agricultural cold storage and cold chain facilities in the high-temperature regions of the Middle East.
Overseas Cold Storage Engineering Services
In addition to the Dubai agricultural cold chain project, HAOCOOL has undertaken cold storage and cold chain projects across the Middle East, Africa, South America, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.
These projects span various sectors, including agricultural produce, fruits and vegetables, meat, seafood, food processing, logistics warehousing, and industrial refrigeration. HAOCOOL provides comprehensive services—including cold storage design, equipment configuration, construction, commissioning, and handover—tailored to the specific climatic conditions, stored products, project scale, and construction environment of each region.
